Well it's that time of year again: Lent! Now traditionally I give up something: alcohol, chocolate, soda, etc... But this year I am going to be doing something rather than giving up! I am finally going to bunker down and start eating the South Beach Diet way. I am still carrying around excess baby weight and I am tired of it. So the program is living without carbs for two weeks and then eating low carb from that point on. I am assuming you go the first two weeks with carbs to rid your body of sugar and actually develop a concept for portion size.
The book about the diet says you can expect to lose 8-12lbs in the first two weeks! So here goes nothing! I will try to chime in daily to let those who care know how it is going!
Starting weight: as if I would actually tell :)
Hopeful ending weight: 120-125 (slightly heavier than I was when I got preggie with Ethan)
Until next time...

FAIL!
Well, clearly I have failed the 30 day challenge and you know what, I am okay with that. Life is hectic and I do not have a lot of spare time posting pictures. If you follow me on facebook you have noticed that I barely post pictures of my sweet boys at all. I used to post a picture a day of them, but between taking care of them, working two jobs, laundry, dishes, a husband, and some downtime, I haven't been able to work in picture uploading time.
Things have been pretty smooth with our little family lately. Colin is finally (knock on wood) sleeping through the night. We have gone three nights with no wake up, no need to readjust him, and no night feedings. Last week I thought to myself that we would NEVER get here. I had a fear that he would be three and still getting up at night (it's overwhelming when you think about it) but he proved me wrong and has settled into his crib nicely and now eats a huge dinner so he does not stir at night. With that said, I am taking on the task of getting rid of certain baby items and clothes. He has barely been able to wear Ethan's old clothes because he outgrew them too fast--fat boy! So goodbye bassinet, goodbye "bouncy seat", and probably goodbye swing, Colin does not like you anymore!
Ethan is the same cool dude as ever. We received an iPad for Christmas (thanks Peepaw and Gigi) so instead of our nights being consumed by The Fresh Beats Band and other bang-your-head-on-the-wall shows we are delightfully tackling each level of Angry Birds one by one. It's amazing what Ethan knows how to do on the iPad. He can turn it on, find his games, FaceTime, and he even SHARES. Usually when he does not know what he is doing, he says "your turn mommy" and hands it to me so I will do whatever he could not figure out (he probably thinks he has tricked me but I'm hip to his game!).
So that's our family in a nutshell for the last week or so!
Until next time...

Day #5
The photo for today is of a little something I have been best friends with lately. I was "pinning" one day and found a recipe for cake pops and thought to myself that I could make those. So I pulled out my Kitchen Aid mixer and we have been inseparable ever since. Valentine's day is next week and I will be making treats for my husband's co-workers and I am surprising my co-workers with some delicious snacks as well. The Kitchen Aid is probably the BEST appliance I have ever received, mind you I've had it for 3+ years and just finally started using it!
Until next time...
Day #4 (one day late)
I know, I know....I only made it to day #3 and then skipped a day? Blame my husband...he worked late last night and then had to come home and do homework so there was no time for this momma to edit and upload a photo.
The photo I picked for day #4 is of Colin. He's looking in the mirror at the exact moment I took the shot and I thought it looked pretty cool!

Day #3
The Superbowl is kind of a big deal in our house. Sometimes it's a sore spot as well being Bills fans. If you don't know, google "Buffalo Bills Superbowl" and plenty of information will be available for a little history lesson. Usually, we would go out to a friend's house and watch the game but having two children and a limited supply of babysitters, this year we decided we would forgo the usual bash and stay in. Plus this year Ethan is old enough to watch the game with us. He actually got to stay up late and was more interested in the iPad than the game but that's neither here nor there.
This year I decided to make pulled pork as the main dish, Justin made chili and for dessert I made cookies. For Day #3 of the photo challenge I have included a picture of the pulled pork sandwich Justin ate. Enjoy...

Day #2
Today I am posting two pictures. Ethan wanted me to post a picture of him today.
The first picture is of normal Ethan...
The second picture is of Ethan less than 5 seconds after the normal picture was taken....

Day #1
As promised, here is photo #1. We have been experimenting with solids (baby food) with Colin since before his 4 month appointment (he will be 6 months on 2/10) and I think we have found the perfect kind. He likes the generic Stage 2 food from Food Lion. We have a stock pile of Gerber which he simply is having a hard time getting used to. While walking down the isle of the baby food section, I stumbled across the FL Stage 2 brand. I like it because it offers both a fruit and a vegetable all in one. Colin could not be happier and he seems to love it!
So here's our little dude munching and cheesing away...
Stay tuned for Day #2 tomorrow....
