Be nice this time!

So another week has come to a close and this weekend it a little more special because on Sunday I hit the third trimester for a second time! Last time the third trimester was not so nice to this household, so this time all I am asking is for the next three months to go smoothly and quickly. I know, I know, you should never wish for a pregnancy to be rushed but with the rising temperatures outside, the rising digits on the scale, and the rising level of anticipation of this momma I am more than ready to meet Luke/Colin. It's funny because when I became pregnant all I was wishing for was to make it out of the first trimester without a hitch and now I am wishing to make it out of the third in the same fashion. So fingers crossed ladies and gents!

There has also been another development for our household: TEMPER TANTRUMS! Ethan started being a little tempermental a couple of months ago but as quickly as those tantrums started they stopped so I thought maybe that was the worst of it. Boy was I wrong! It seems like daily there is something that sets Ethan off and you would think the world was coming to an end. The time when Ethan's "twin" shows himself is usually around dinner. Tonight is the first night in about a week and a half that he actually ate all of his dinner without complaining, screaming, crying, or attempting to throw his food on the floor. Here's a glimpse of how much he liked it:

Normally Ethan loves spaghetti but when I made it this week, it almost ended up all over the floor instead of in his belly. At times this is disheartening but I know he was just testing me! Hopefully the tantrums will die down once he turns two since he started them BEFORE he actually turned two, but honestly, I think we are in for tantrums until he gets much older (or at least that's what I have been told)!

It's Memorial Day weekend this weekend so that means it's a THREE DAY WEEKEND!!! I could not be more excited because I have a million and one things to do around the house that never seem to get done during the week. I am still working on the room for the boys(their surprise arrived this week) so hopefully I can knock the majority of the painting out. Oh yeah, it is also my birthday and I have to say this is the only birthday other than the "milestone" birthdays that I am looking forward to because I get to turn 29 on the 29th. I always thought that was pretty cool! So the plan for the weekend is to clean, paint, and relax. Sounds like a pretty good weekend to me!

Until next time friends....

Did you say Dr. Seuss?

Well as the second trimester of this pregnancy is coming to a close (I will hit the third trimester on May 29th) I feel as though I have hit crunch time with regards to where my boys will be sleeping. We live in a two-story two bedroom home and with Justin and I occupying the master bedroom and Ethan sleeping in the second bedroom, it seems as though baby #2 will be bunking with both Justin and I and then will eventually share a room with his brother. We kept Ethan in our room for some time and I fully intend to do the same with the new baby. Now I have to admit when I was growing up I had my own room so I am not sure how Ethan will handle sharing his space but he is already good at sharing so I do not think this will  cause a problem. Plus, he prefers to hang out in our room most of the time anyway. This will definitely be a learning experience for all of us, but in the long run it will teach the boys how to share a room just like they probably will when they go to college and share a dorm room.

When we were awaiting the arrival of Ethan my whole plan was to do an ocean theme for his room. I was going to paint fish, whales, seals, etc. on his wall to really achieve the underwater effect. Unfortunately because of Ethan's untimely arrival the only process that we were able to complete was painting his room. We painted three walls light blue with a dark blue accent wall. You would think I would have had enough time over the past two years to complete the project but time flies when you are raising a little one, working full time, and going to school. So I am devoting these last twelve weeks to getting the boys' room together!

The theme you ask? Dr. Seuss! I love the Dr. Seuss books and completely forgot about them until last Christmas when I was shopping for presents for Ethan and decided to get him a lot of the Dr. Seuss classics. Ethan loves to "read" so books seemed only appropriate with a few toys thrown in here and there. At first I outlined everything I wanted to do on the walls with chalk and have just now started the painting process. It is still a work in progress but here are a few sneak peek pictures:

As you can see I am working on Thing 1 and Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat, the Lorax, and the third book is a surprise but from the looks of things, it will be amazing! I have also just ordered something for their room that will really tie everything together and cannot wait until it gets here! There will be more pictures once more progress happens so stay tuned...

Blogging Newbie

Welcome! As I am sitting here thinking about my son's second birthday, I am also thinking "where have these last two years gone"? It is amazing how time can fly but seem to stand still at the same time. Just yesterday I was waking up at 3:00 in the morning to feed and change Ethan and today I am wondering what wonderful things he will "say" or show me that he learned in school.

Justin and I had Ethan June 16, 2009 five weeks early due to complications with preeclampsia that officially turned into eclampsia just minutes after arriving at the hospital to be monitored. The whole time I told Justin and the doctor that we HAD to wait to have the little guy until at least Thursday evening as my parents and family were on a cruise and it was very important to me to have my mom and dad there to welcome him. I thought this was a reasonable plan and compromise but my body felt differently. One seizure and a c-section later my little man was born at 2:40pm weighing 5lbs, 4ozs and measuring 18 1/2 inches long. He was and still is perfect! We both stayed in the hospital for 6 days (we were released on Justin's very FIRST Father's Day!). From that day on, we have both been challenged by this parenting roll but what new parent isn't? Now we are embarking on the task of having another little one this August. Ethan will be 26 months when our new son arrives and while he does not like me holding other children now, I know he will develop into the best big brother anyone could ask for! I just hope we are ready for the challenge of having two boys running around the house. While I know the first six months or so will be devoted to teaching the new baby life's little lessons, I am looking forward to the day when both of my boys can play with each other and enjoy each other's company.

These last two years have been the happiest, most wonderful, while most challenging years I have had. I would not change them for the world because as the old adage states "it makes us who we are". I am currently enrolled in a Master's program at Liberty University and if all goes according to plan, I will be finished with my LAST two classes July 8, 2011. The program is designed so any person can finish in five years but being the overachiever and wanting things to happen right now, I took a full course load each semester and am finishing in a little less than a year from when I started. I don't know how I managed it, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Justin helped tremendously when I really had to get an assignment done and without him, I would not have been able to finish so quickly.

So this is just a little glimpse into our lives and I know there is plenty more to come so enjoy reading!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! YOU'RE THE BEST! I would not be the mother I am today without what you have taught me over the years :)
